The FreeState Legal Project Board of Directors recently welcomed five new board members: Rianna Brown, Bryan Catalano, Mara Drummond, Michael Franklin, and Jessie Weber. You can read their bios on our Staff & Board page.
The Board of Directors also bid farewell to Miriam Sievers, the Board’s student representative, who graduated from University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law in May. Miriam is continuing her work with FreeState, however, through her leadership of the Transgender Action Group (TAG).
About Outgoing Board Member Miriam Sievers:
Miriam Sievers recently graduated from the University of Maryland Law School. Ms. Sievers came to law school in order to pursue a career in gender and sexual orientation civil rights. After earning her B.A. at Brandeis University in Psychology, with minor concentrations in Legal Studies and Women’s and Gender Studies, she joined Teach for America and taught elementary students in Charlotte, NC. Ms. Sievers has volunteered as a rape crisis counselor and hospital advocate, and is a longstanding ally to the LGBT community. She was the President of her school’s chapter of Law Students for Reproductive Justice for the 2011 2012 academic year.
