Outreach & Education Internship

FreeState Legal Project and Baltimore’s Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network (GLSEN) are seeking an intern for the 2015 Spring Semester in Outreach and Education. Qualified candidates will possess strong writing skills, be conversant in issues affecting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning and intersex (LGBTQ+) youth, and other skills as outlined in the work description.  Interns will be in the office 15 hours a week.  The outreach intern will be responsible for supporting Outreach efforts for FreeState Legal Project and GLSEN. Responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct research on LGBTQ+ youth population to update presentations and trainings
  • Develop and implement comprehensive social media plan for FreeState Legal Project
  • Support Outreach Committee efforts
  • Research and survey LGBTQ youth affirming resources statewide to update Resource Guide
  • Initiate planning of first LGBTQ+ School Professionals Retreat
  • Inventory current GLSEN Baltimore materials and develop new materials for schools-related work
  • Establish electronic database for GLSEN Baltimore files
  • Attend monthly GLSEN Baltimore chapter meetings
