Dear Supporters,
Today, the FreeState Justice Board of Directors is announcing the launch of the search for its next Executive Director of the organization. As FreeState’s most recent strategic plan developed by our staff and Board in 2016 comes to a close, we will pass the reigns to the next leader to lay out the vision for the next five years and beyond.
Over the past three years, under the leadership of Mark Procopio, FreeState Justice has doubled in size, helped hundreds of LGBTQ+ Marylanders facing discrimination, won precedent-setting legal victories, and fought for more than a dozen pro-equality bills. This year, for the first time, Maryland was ranked in the top tier of the Human Rights Campaign’s annual state equality rankings. Mark has been an incredibly hard-working, thoughtful, and strategic leader. We are deeply appreciative of Mark’s contribution and lasting impact on our organization and for our community.
Over the next few months, FreeState Justice’s Board of Directors will be overseeing the search and selection process for our next Executive Director who will support our talented staff and volunteers and continue to deepen our impact and fight for lived equality in Maryland.
