Human Rights Campaign Releases 2017 Municipal Equality Report

HRC's Municipal Equality Index examines how inclusive laws, policies, and services are of LGBTQ people.

Human Rights Campaign has released its 2018 Municipal Equality Report. This report evaluates the inclusivity and equity of laws, policies, and services to LGBTQ people. It evaluates cities and metro areas across the country, including 10 cities in Maryland. We are proud to say that Rockville, Frederick, and Columbia all received final scores of 100/100.  However, this is not to say that our work is complete, as these scores do not necessarily reflect the lived experiences of the LGBTQ community.  With statewide results averaging at about 77/100, there is still much work to be done across Maryland.

The other 7 cities scored as follows:

Annapolis: 59/100

Baltimore: 89/100

Bowie: 58/100

College Park: 86/100

Gaithersburg: 57/100

Hagerstown: 32/100

Towson: 91/100
