Position Announcement: FreeState Seeks Community Navigator

The Community Navigator will be responsible for affirming healthcare and housing navigation services provided to LGBTQ+ youth in Baltimore City.

FreeState Justice seeks an organized, knowledgeable, personable, and creative Community Navigator who is passionate about educating others and building connections with stakeholders to achieve equality for vulnerable LGBTQ+ Marylanders.

The Community Navigator will be responsible for the development and implementation of professional and affirming health care and housing navigator services provided to LGBTQ+ Baltimore City residents between the ages of 16 and 24 .  The position will link clients to physical health, substance abuse, behavioral health care and housing resources.  The community Navigator is responsible for scheduling appointments with providers and conducting follow up meetings with clients to assure their needs are met.

The Community Navigator must possess exceptional communications and networking skills.  In addition to supporting FreeState clients, this position will also be required to assess, recruit, and retain qualified and affirming health care and housing services providers.

Successful candidates will possess a BA/BS in a counseling field (social work, counselling, and psychology) is required.  Master’s degree is preferred but not required if there is sufficient work experience of 2 to 4 years providing case management/care coordination or navigator services. Knowledge of local community resources including health care, housing, and social services is highly preferred.
