FREESTATE LEGAL PROJECT

FreeState Legal Project was a legal services organization that met the specific needs of low-income LGBTQ+ populations throughout Maryland. With its amazing network of pro bono attorneys (many still assist FSJ today!), this organization worked to change existing law and policy to create a truly equitable State for all. Through their outreach to LGBTQ+ locals, providing education trainings to lawyers and judges on LGBTQ+ needs - and of course providing thousands of Marylanders with free legal services - this organization was able to make Maryland’s legal code more equitable for all its residents.
