  • Connect with local leaders and learn about their communities
  • Represent the organization at Pride marches and festivals throughout Maryland

FreeState Justice’s work focuses on the following issue areas:

  • Volunteer for a Board Committee

    Our Board is an essential aspect of FSJ’s advocacy plans as they shape how we move

    forward in making this state inclusive for all. Our current Board Committees are:

    • The Programs and Major Donors Committee
    • The Finance Committee
    • The Events and Volunteer Committee
    • The Policy Committee

    At FSJ, our pro bono attorneys are worth their weight in gold! The more attorneys we work with the more LGBTQ+ clients we can help. These cases are big and small, ranging from family law, to name and gender changes, to wills and estates, to discrimination and more!

  • Host/Attend an Event, Training, or Workshop

    FreeState Justice hosts amazing events throughout the year, and our trainings/workshops are great ways to raise awareness about LGBTQ+ topics across the state! In these sessions, members of our teams visit local groups (ranging from businesses, to sports clubs, to other nonprofits!) and present on how they can be inclusive to each other and promote LGBTQ+ rights in their work!

Help Decriminalize HIV in Maryland

HIV is not a crime, but Maryland law currently singles it out for criminal punishment. MD Health-Gen Code § 18-601.1 frustrates our public health goals and places stigmatization in the way of ending the epidemic.
