Londyn Smith de Richelieu

Londyn Smith de Richelieu is a prominent figure in the fields of health policy, LGBTQ advocacy, and community organizing, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to her roles. A native of Baltimore, she has demonstrated a strong commitment to empowering marginalized populations, particularly within the LGBTQ+ community.


Londyn's educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, she attended Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, where she founded Assefa and Safe Space the first LGBTQ specific organizations in response to a national bullying crisis. She  honed her skills in management, finance, and economics to further her academic pursuits at the Gitenstein Institute of Health Law and Policy at Hofstra Law, graduating with distinction. She will be pursuing a doctorate in public administration, showcasing her dedication to advancing her expertise in policy development and implementation.


Throughout her career, Londyn has been a trailblazer and a champion for policy reforms and community development. She has collaborated with prestigious organizations such as the National Black Justice Coalition, Congressional Black Caucus, Congressional Democrats, American Public Health Association, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research, Baltimore Harm Reduction Coalition, SWOP, AIDS United, and various other community-based entities. Notably, Londyn played a pivotal role in the transgender implementation team at Spelman College, supporting the institution's commitment to diversity and inclusion.


Londyn's groundbreaking accomplishments where highlighted during her acceptance of Baltimore Sun’s Top 25 Women To Watch awards and include being the first transgender woman appointed to the Baltimore mayoral cabinet, where she served as the inaugural Director of the Mayor's Office of LGBTQ Affairs. Her leadership and advocacy have paved the way for meaningful change in the representation and support of LGBTQ residents in Baltimore. Additionally, she has a deep connection to the House Ballroom community, proudly serving as the mother to the iconic House Ballroom family Miyake Mugler.
