Ebony Thompson Receives the Beacon of Justice Award at This Year's Sunset Soirée

Joel Medina • Apr 29, 2024

come out to the 2024 sunset soirée and see this local advocate receive recognition for her amazing work!

FSJ is honored to award local advocate Ebony Thompson with the Beacon of Justice Award at this year’s Sunset Soirée.

Ebony Thompson (she/her) made history as Baltimore’s first woman and first openly LGBTQ+ City Solicitor to take up the position. Before she made history with this role, Thompson spent years as a legal professional fighting for the rights of marginalized communities daily. FreeState Justice is honored to have had her as a member of our amazing Board, where she worked with the team to create programs and resources that served Maryland’s most underserved communities.

The Beacon of Justice Award is a symbol of appreciation for those who have made a significant impact on Maryland’s LGBTQ+ community, tirelessly advocating for their rights. Ebony Thompson embodies this dedication and is a true trailblazer in her professional roles and her personal activism.

We are honored to present her with this prestigious award at the 2024 Sunset Soirée. Join us in celebrating her by securing your tickets now here!

SAFEGUARDING TRANS RIGHTS THROUGH A STORM OF ANTI-TRANS LEGISLATION Be aware of what's happening so we can prevent it in our State! The current legal landscape of pro- and anti-trans legislation in the United States is deeply troubling. Since the beginning of 2023, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has cataloged nearly 500 anti-LGBTQ+ bills introduced in state legislatures.
